MoonGate Evacuation Services Association (MESA Assist) was founded in 1974 by Frank Halley as a Health Maintenance Organization. In 1985, after the company’s fleet of fixed-wing jet aircraft had been used by the UCLA Medical Center to transport donor organs, Mr. Halley recognized the need for an air ambulance service. In fact, he had a vision: to help people wherever in the world they traveled, and at an affordable price.

40 years and one million members later, MESA Assist continues to work hard every day to honor and serve the best membership agreement in the industry –the MoonGate Group is very proud to be the Exclusive Agent in Bermuda for this valuable service.

Quality Care in the Air and on the Ground.

Whether you’re at home, on the job or traveling the world, MASA Assist is there to provide you with best-in-class emergency medical transportation, and protect you from catastrophic financial loss. MASA has qualified and experienced personnel trained as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Paramedics, Registered Nurses and Physicians. The medical crews, pilots, support staff – even phone operators – are all on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and are thoroughly trained to handle each call with expertise and care.

According to the Insurance Act 1978, this is not “insurance”; however, you have the assurance that MASA will do anything possible to help you and your family through a medical emergency.

This is why we offer our services for a low annual membership fee that will never increase as long as membership is maintained. That’s also why all flights and services are covered completely free of cost. But what we don’t have is just as important:

MASA Benefits

MASA Assist is designed to protect you against catastrophic financial loss when emergencies arise by providing you with medical transportation.

Emergency Air Transportation & Medical Evacuation

Should a member suffer a serious illness or injury resulting in hospitalization and if the member is in need of specialized treatment not available locally, then MASA Assist shall fly them to the nearest appropriate medical facility capable of providing such specialized treatment.

Organ retrieval

MASA Assist will provide air transportation of an organ to be used in an organ transplant.

Organ Recipient Transportation

MASA Assist shall fly a member to the commercial airport nearest the medical facility where an organ transplant is scheduled to happen.

Recuperation | Repatriation

If a member is hospitalized while away from home, MASA Assist will fly them home to recuperate in familiar surroundings.

Escort Transportation

If a member requires emergency air transport, MASA Assist will fly the member’s spouse, family member or friend to accompany them in the air ambulance.

Non-Injury Transportation

If a member is hospitalized while away from his/her home for more than 7 days, the member may select a family member to visit them during confinement. MASA Assist will provide round trip, common carrier air transportation for the person selected.

Minor Children & Grandchildren Return

When minor children or grandchildren are left unattended as a result of a member using MASA Assist air ambulance service, MASA Assist will provide one-way common carrier air transport for return of the children to the commercial airport nearest the place of residence of the children. A qualified attendant shall accompany the children.

Vehicle Return

MASA Assist will return vehicles such as cars, vans, RVs or trucks owned or rented by the member when illness, injury or death requires use of the air ambulance services provided by MASA Assist. The vehicle will be carried to the member’s place of residence or rental vehicles will be returned to the nearest rental company office or agent.

Mortal Remains Transport

In the event a member dies while away from his/her place of residence, MASA Assist will return his/her remains to the commercial airport nearest his/her residence.

Worldwide Coverage

Membership coverage shall be extended to a worldwide basis.

Partner Enhancement Provider Program Caribbean Only

New, local enhancement benefits and discounts to MASA International members. The UPC bar code on the back of our new MASA International cards can be scanned at one of our partner’s locations and a discount will be applied. Our partners include food stores, drug stores, airlines, eye clinics, internet and cable providers, and more.

Hospital of Your Choice Addendum Caribbean Only

For MASA International members who specifically want to be flown to the United States in the case of a significant medical emergency, the Hospital of Your Choice plan allows you to choose a region of the United States that you would prefer to be flown to.
